Destinee & Paris Score Opening Slot on Britney Spears World Tour & Tour Dates!!!

The sister duo, who doubled as backup singers on season 10 of "American Idol," will announce the news on the red carpet at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards.

Sisters Paris and Destinee Monroe have scored the opening slot to Britney Spears' Femme Fatale tour, which continues to Russia and Europe starting on Sept. 22. The U.S. trek featured Nicki Minaj and Jersey Shore's Pauly D. The European leg has Joe Jonas on the bill.

The pop duo known as Paris & Destinee have already warmed-up for the tour. "We did six dates," the girls told The Hollywood Reporter at Perez Hilton's One Night in Los Angeles VMA pre-party on Saturday. "We're so excited for the rest of the tour!" Paris & Destinee plan to break the news officially at today MTV Video Music Awards.

It won't be the first time the girls have performed on a world stage. As the group the Clique Girlz, signed in 2008 to Universal Music by producer Ron Fair, Paris and Destinee got to play in Japan and Canada opening for the likes of Jonas Bros. and Backstreet Boys.
More recently, Paris & Destinee served as regular backup singers for season 10 of American Idol, accompanying favorites such as Paul McDonald, Lauren Alaina and winner Scotty McCreery.
Back in May, Destinee explained how they made it to the show. "We've always been fans of American Idol," she told THR at the time. "When [Interscope Geffen A&M chairman] Jimmy Iovine took over the show, he said, 'I really want you guys to be a part of this.' " Added Paris: "We were like, 'How could we turn it down?' It’s the biggest stage in the world."

Destinee & Paris - Tommy2.net

Back in 2004, sisters Destinee and Paris Monroe formed Clique Girlz with their friend Ariel Moore and by 2007 the group signed with Interscope Records. Within a few months they were booked to open for Raven Symone’s Summer Amphitheater Tour. Just one week after tickets went on sale the entire tour was canceled. Then in August, the group released their debut album, Incredible, in Japan and announced they would be joining the Cheetah Girls One World Tour in the Fall. During that time, Interscope prepped for their U.S. album release. Just one month after the end of the tour, Ariel Moore announced her departure from the group. The Clique Girlz debut album was canceled and they ended up quickly finding a new member who left the group after a couple of months.
In the middle of 2009 the sisters announced they’d make a run on their own and go by the name Destinee & Paris. After years of hard work Interscope gave them an opportunity this year on American Idol and the two were featured backing Scotty McCreery on his debut single, I Love You This Big. Since then, the duo have been alternating between the recording studio and dance studio prepping for their launch. Last night, Destinee & Paris taped their performance segment for an upcoming episode of Disney Channel’s So Random and then hopped on the red-eye flight to Grand Rapids, MI where they’ll be joining the Britney Spears Femme Fatale Tour tonight.
Here’s to the dream… and never giving up. Tonight, you’re going to shine!

"Meet the New 'American Idol' Backup Singers" by The Hollywood Reporter

destinee and paris publicity 2010
This week, American Idol eliminates two finalists, but if either caught the ears and eyes of resident mentor Jimmy Iovine during their time on the show, all hope is not lost. You see, Iovine, who's headed Interscope Geffen A&M Records for 20 years, has seen his share of hits and misses -- some acts have prospered under his watch, others were long ago dropped -- but if he senses something truly special about an artist, he sticks with them.
Case in point: American Idol's new double blonde backup singers Destinee and Paris Monroe, whose sweet, down-home harmonies have accented performances by the likes of Paul McDonald (see video below) and Lauren Alaina. Four years ago, they were two out of three members of little-known group the Clique Girlz who arrived from Hollywood from that hotbed of tween talent -- New Jersey -- with big dreams of Bratz-like branding, chart-topping singles and eventual world domination. I know, because I wandered into producer Ron Fair's studio one day when he was bouncing around the control room speaking those very buzz words.
But as most music business stories go, despite high-profile opening slots for the likes of the Jonas Brothers and Backstreet Boys, the Clique Girlz saw a flurry of interest but never a proper U.S. release, and after recording more than 90 songs, according to a 2008 interview, the trio broke up.
Still, Iovine didn't send the girls packing back to Egg Harbor Township. Rather, after including a Destinee and Paris song on the Neptunes-produced Despicable Me soundtrack, he put them on Idol, the biggest stage in the world, where, despite being positioned in the background and only brought out on country-esque tunes, Destinee, 16, and Paris, 15, have shined.
In these days when a hot Twitter second is about all the attention span people have to spare, Iovine has remained committed to these two for years. And although you can see why, it still feels like a rarity and, for that reason, somewhat surprising.
So what's next for Destinee and Paris beyond Idol? According to a hastily written one-sheet from the label, the two have recorded their own album on which they worked with "some of the top-name producers in the business." The release date has yet to be determined.
In the meantime, tune in to Idol tonight to see who the girls back up on Elton John week. Got a song suggestion of your own? Leave it in the comments...

Destinee & Paris on American Idol

Hey everyone!
We had so much fun at American Idol last night, we just wanted to recap you on our day! We arrived on set at 10am and went straight into rehearsals with our Friends, Paul, Thia, and Lauren! We always have a blast hanging out with everyone backstage it’s just such a fun show! Even the crew is so cool! We had to do 3 hours of school before dress rehearsal though… lol which is important and kind of surprisingly fun, because our studio teacher Wendy is the bomb! She’s so much fun, she teaches our friends Scotty, Thia, and Lauren! We went live at 5pm and had a great show! It was so much fun… we love seeing all of our Interscope family out in the audience, it’s so cool. Since it was Motown night we got to sing some amazing classics that we personally love. We sang “Heatwave” with Thia, who is so sweet and fun to hang out with… and not to mention insanely talented! We loved all the harmonies on that song! We also got to sing a Supremes song who we have idolized our whole entire lives! We sang “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” with Lauren who we love so much! We always have a blast before the performance backstage. Last but never least, our big brother Paul! We love him so much! We got to sing a Smokey Robinson song with him called “Tracks of My Tears” which we adore… it’s such a great classic song!
We had the greatest time last night, we we’re hanging out backstage watching the monitors with Scotty, Jacob, and Naima who are so amazing & such great friends… we also got to talk to all the judges before they went on the panel, we go way back with Randy but we finally met Jennifer last night who is so beautiful, sweet, and talented Her smash hit single “On The Floor” was produced by our mentor, big brother, and producer RedOne so we had lots to talk about since you all know Red produced our album! We also we’re dancing with Steven… again. Lol! Words can’t describe how much we love this show & incredible experience! We’re having so much fun being apart of a show like this.
Here are some pictures from last night… hope you enjoy! Thank you all so much for your amazing support, love, and adoration. You are the best! & Thank you for tuning into American Idol! Please vote for your favorite contestant, because 1 vote could change their life. xo -D&P
